About the IBRO Regional Committees
IBRO is represented regionally by five Regional Committees: the African (IBRO-ARC), Asian-Pacific (IBRO-APRC), Latin American (IBRO-LARC), Pan-European (IBRO-PERC), and the US/Canada (IBRO-USCRC) Regional Committees.
The Chair of each Regional Committee coordinates its functioning and convenes its members (up to nine) in the execution of the regional programs and partnerships. Each committee primarily operates through online collaboration in support of IBRO’s regional mission.
Each Regional Committee is responsible for the management of IBRO’s programs and partnerships in their region. They may also contribute to cross-regional activities in collaboration with other committees, and support the promotion and visibility of IBRO within their region.
Further responsibilities include:
Identifying unmet needs and supporting the development of IBRO’s portfolio of educational and training programs
Elaboration of an annual budget to cover regional activities
Review and evaluation of applications for funding in the region with a commitment towards diversity, equity, and inclusion
Participation in exchanges aimed at building consensus, making decisions, and assuring accountability within the region
Collaboration with regional federations and societies, as well as global scientific networks, to increase brain research and awareness in the region
Promotion of neuroscience within the regions through outreach, mentoring, and capacity-building
