Global input on the future of neuroscience
The World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Neurotechnologies recently met in Dubai on November 11th and 12th to discuss technological developments in neuroscience and their ethical implications for society. This meeting is helping to shape the agenda for the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in 2019, as well as ongoing global initiatives.
Council member Karen Rommelafanger, co-chair of the International Brain Initiative Working Group on Neuroethics and the Global Neuroethics Summit, co-wrote an article for the Annual Meeting of the Global Future Councils. This article, co-written by Alvaro Fernandez, focused on the need for engagement from the global community on the impact of neuroscience, stating:
“But we need to pick your brain, as the implications of these new global efforts are profound. We need to ensure they reflect the needs and priorities of 7.6 billion brains and minds in every city, town and village around the globe.”
