Dr. Noor Al Dahhan receives the 2025 IBI–Canada Early Career Neuroscientist Award

The International Brain Initiative (IBI) is pleased to announce that Dr. Noor Al Dahhan (Postdoctoral Research Fellow, SickKids), has been awarded the 2025 IBI–Canada Early Career Neuroscientist Award.
This award provides funding to support the in-person attendance of Dr. Al Dahhan at the 2025 IBI Daegu Conference: Emotional Brain Mapping in Health & Disease, on October 20 – 22, 2025, in Daegu, South Korea, where she will present her research on “Neural Network Disruptions & Their Impact on Emotion Regulation and Executive Functioning”.
The 2025 IBI Daegu Conference is hosted by the Korea Brain Research Institute (KBRI), and the award is offered by the IBI jointly with the Canadian Brain Research Strategy and KBRI.

Dr. Noor Al Dahhan
Dr. Noor Al Dahhan is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Neurosciences and Mental Health Program at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). Her research program focuses on investigating the connections among brain structure, function, and emotional cognitive processes in children treated for brain tumors. Before joining SickKids, Dr. Al Dahhan received her MSc and PhD in Neuroscience at Queen’s University, and completed a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Massachusetts General Hospital. Her work has been funded by a SickKids Restracomp Fellowship and is currently supported by a Canadian Cancer Society Postdoctoral Research Training Award. In recognition of her work, she has received Brain Canada’s 2023 Rising Star Dr. Matthew Galati Brain Changer Award, the 2023 Young Investigator Award and Best in Basic and Translational Science from the International Society of Pediatric Oncology, an Early Career Researcher Finalist Award at the 2022 International Conference on Biomagnetism, and the 2022 Exceptional Trainee Award in the Neurosciences and Mental Health Program at SickKids. In addition to her research, Dr. Al Dahhan actively engages in editorial and professional service roles, both at SickKids and beyond, contributing to the advancement of neuroscience in multiple ways.
