Building momentum, shaping the future: Highlights from the 2026 IBI Summit

On September 1, 2026, the IBI held its 2026 Summit during the 2026 FALAN Congress in Santiago, Chile. This hybrid annual strategic planning meeting gathered its Executive Committee, Working Group Leads, Partners, and Funding Advisory Council to reflect on progress and priorities for the initiative’s continued growth.

Discussions included updates across member initiatives, working groups, and partner activities; the next steps for current working groups and the development of new ones; exploring opportunities to secure sustainable operational funding; and seeking philanthropic opportunities for future IBI awards and prizes. Participants also explored the IBI’s long-term vision and strategies for building a strong, sustainable foundation for the future. The 2026 IBI Summit concluded with forward-looking discussions on priorities and planning for the 2027 IBI Summit.
