Neuroethics Working Group

Building on the accomplishments of the first generation of Neuroethics at the IBI, the revitalized Working Group will focus on currently underexplored topics in the neuroethics debate such as issues of global justice in access to neurotechnology, the neuroethics of mental health, neurodivergence, bias prevention and inclusion in the compilation of datasets in neuroscience, environmental neuroethics, and a data governance framework for brain data that is culturally-aware and legally compatible with all brain initiatives.

Engaging on the World Stage


On March 20, 2026, EBRAINS and the IBI Neuroethics Working Group brought together leading experts and the public for an interactive webinar, “Mind Your Mind,” as part of Brain Awareness Week 2026.

The event explored the growing impact of neurotechnology – tools that can record and analyse brain activity – and highlighted both its transformative potential and the ethical challenges it raises.
